Ais Wu DDS
My name is Ais Wu and I graduated from the University of the Pacific Arthur A. Dugoni School of Dentistry in 2021. Since then, I have worked in the United States Navy as a general dentist. During my credentialing tour in Norfolk, I learned to use limited field-of-view CBCTs as part of my endodontic rotation in conducting endodontic consults. I gained an appreciation for how much more information could be gleaned from this imaging modality that we could not necessarily see on an intra-oral radiograph, and learned to use this tool to diagnose root fractures as well as the need and rationale for endodontic re-treatment. I continued to use this tool as the attending dentist in the clinic with one of the busiest emergency departments in the country. During my next assignment at a Marine training base, I was part of a team that examined hundreds of candidates per month for intake. I also worked closely with my supervisor, who was an exodontist. We would regularly review panoramic radiographs to predict potential complications in third molar surgeries. Through my experiences I realized that I had a passion for diagnosis and decided to pursue post-doctoral studies in oral maxillofacial radiology.
